Mark’s Mission

I’m riding to end childhood hunger. Next April, at 73, I’ll put what my kids call “Old Man Strength” into action and bike 3,400 miles from the Pacific to the Atlantic—67 days, 1 mission: raise $1,000,000 for No Kid Hungry.

On any given night in America, nearly 14 million kids can go to bed hungry. I’ve never had to wonder where my next meal was coming from; too many children do, day after day. This ride is my way of saying that’s not just absurd—it’s unacceptable. Hunger steals potential. It has a negative effect on learning, behavior and health. Feeding kids changes their future. It is an investment in human capital that will benefit us all. If I can push these old hips, knees, and legs across the country, together we can push to make sure kids have the meals they need to learn, grow, and thrive.

No Kid Hungry funds school breakfasts and after-school meals, helps communities reach kids in summers and emergencies, connects families to SNAP, and advocates for policies that protect children. With their proven impact, the $1 million we raise can help provide up to 10 million meals.* Your support turns miles into meals—and this ride into a lifeline for kids who deserve more.

“Food is fundamental to a child’s wellbeing. Helping to feed millions of kids will make every mile, uphill climb and sore muscle endured on this ride worth the effort.”
